In 2003, Craigsville Presbyterian Church and the community prayerfully began exploring serving their neighbors with food assistance. With God’s help, the Craigsville Area Food Pantry had its humble beginnings in the church manse garage. We had about 100 families that first day.
The mission continues today on a much larger scale. The Food Pantry is located in the old Earhart grocery store in Estaline Valley. It serves about 230 families once a month, including 70+ deliveries to families and individuals that lack transportation or are shut in.
While the Craigsville Area Food Pantry is its own nonprofit organization, members of the congregation continue to provide the leadership for and to volunteer along with other community church members.
